Microsoft Windows 7 Family Pack Discontinued

December 19th, 2009 · No Comments

Microsoft in another display of incompetent (greedy) management has discontinued the family pack upgrade (3 installs) of the new Windows 7 operating system for $155.  This morning I was going to buy the family pack to upgrade our computers.  One to replace Vista, which was another piece of MS incompetence, the other 2 have XP, which are working OK but 7 would speed them up a bit.  Solution?  That’s easy.  I was willing to spend $155 for the 3 pack upgrade but its not worth it to me to spend  $360 for 3 separate upgrades.  Microsoft did not even put out a statement as to why they discontinued the pack, I wonder why?

Well done Microsoft, instead of collecting $155  (bringing money into the economy @ Best Buy and the supply chain) and making a customer happy you now make nothing, and have a very unhappy user.   What do unhappy users do?  Check out the Apple store.

The upgrades are also expensive compared to Apple OS upgrades.  Microsoft may argue that Win 7 is a major upgrade.  But its not, its a cleaned up version of their Vista which was only needed because of the Vista bungle.
