Panasonic Lumix TZ3 – Tips

December 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Here are some tips we learned on our recent South America Cruise. The first two tips apply anytime you are traveling, with any digital camera.

1. If you are not taking a pc or device for downloading photos & videos, make sure you have a large enough memory card.  The Sandisk Ultra II line is the one we prefer, we used a 2gb version on the trip, but downloaded to computer daily.  If you intend to take video as well the larger the better, the video’s take up a LOT of space.

2. Back up battery.  We took up to 150 pix a day, including flash and video’s.  Although we never ran out of power, we came close a couple of times.  No need to buy the expensive Panasonic battery,  Lenmar DLP007 Lithium-ion Battery for TZ3 is all you need, at half the price.

3. Set Scene 1 on the top dial to "Action" (looks like a running man), we left the camera on this setting as standard, it sets a higher shutter speed which helps keep photos sharp when using telephoto settings or when using the camera quickly.  When we had time to compose the picture and not using telephoto, we used the normal setting (red camera).

4. When taking indoor room and people shots we normally took 2 photos, one standard flash,  and one at the slow sync/red eye flash setting.  The slow  sync gives a different look, the you can decide which one is better (yellow caste can be corrected in photo edit program).

I will update this list if I think of anything else.
