It’s a blue sky day, was going to veg on deck but there are various activities this morning e.g. disembarkation lecture. Vicki has decided to take full advantage to sleep in and ordered cabin breakfast for 9am.
As with all cruises the pax come from multiple nations and all shapes and sizes. Average age perhaps 50 and up, with about 25 younger couples. Some observations of people who may or may not bear a resemblance to some of our fellow pax: a power walker who weaves in and out of other pax on the jogging track (55sec laps). an older jogger who runs clockwise when everyone else is walking/jogging anti-clockwise. I spent 30 mins reading and watching this morning to see if power walker and clockwise jogger would meet in a jumble of arms and legs, but all safe, the blonde/brunette who is drop dead gorgeous, the blonde/brunette who thinks she is drop dead gorgeous, the ping pong champion lurking in wait for prey, a bronzed, square jawed, muscled handsome he-man (from noo joiyzee?), a 250lb European wearing a speedo 2 sizes too small., a few “deck chair people” who spring from below early in the morning to “reserve” the prime deck chairs, 6-8 at a time, by putting odds and ends on them, then disappear until they use them later. (the mischievous part of me wants to move their assorted belongings onto different deck chairs scattered around the deck), an occasional cell phone person talking to Aunt Mimi somewhere, half the pool deck knows half the conversation. (Thankfully I have not yet spotted a cell phone person with a “Star Trek” earpiece), half a dozen or so small kids who are abnormally well behaved . Just your average cruise crowd.

The Captain introduce a bunch of crew from the various department this morning and gave a short speech. Vicki had her photo taken with him.
Finished reading “Nothing Can Go Wrong”, a hilarious book about the last days of the Mariposa. From a passengers perspective and the Captains. Every experienced cruiser who remembers the “old days” should read it and if you traveled on the Mariposa or Monterey you might recognize yourself (many names changed to save embarrassment) Unfortunately its out of print, I got my copy on Half.com.
We broke with tradition for lunch and tried some pizza….very good.
Lounged around on deck until “tea” time. I have a taste for Earl Grey now.
Vicki went to the Tanzanite lecture, said it was interesting. Not many deals in the ships shops from what we can see though, even the duty free booze seems a bit expensive compared to other ships.
Tapas in Cova Café before dinner. Watched the ships photographer trying to set up a group shot of about 15 asian pax on the starirs. Not easy. Brought back memories, hope we don’t have flashback nightmares tonight! Dinner -Vicki had an excellent desert “Chocolate Cigar”. There have only been a couple of nights when the entrée menu did not inspire, tonight was one. (probably just our taste, you can’t please all the people, all the time)
The passenger that had hijacked “our” slot machine must have been on bathroom break. So we tried our luck. Two minutes later we cashed out $22 better off!! On to the show, a revue of the swing era by the 5 show performers, once again a very good show.
Looking forward to Motevideo tomorrow………
